I had one of these recently. I got it from Quality for a good price, but
returned it since I couldn't switch it to the Mac+ I also have. The
modem worked fine on my GS. The behavior you describe doesn't sound
normal. I believe the only thing the modem gets from the ADB port is
power. All the interfacing happens through the serial port.
