Re: Apple II suicide--a sermon...

I don't think anybody really thought Apple would build the II forever,
however the bitter pill for me was how they phased it out. I guess the
lesson to be learned is some of the problems of getting involved in a
product built by a single manufacturer, which is one reason I'm likely
to never personally buy another Apple product. Over the years I've kept
all my Apple IIs, and darned glad I did. For all their flash and polish
a Mac is not a II, and a PC is not a II (and vice versa I'm sure). We
have the latest and greatest at work and I'm glad to have them and
even happier to let work pay for them after supplying my own computers
for 15 years. For home and hobby I still enjoy the machine that Woz
built. As for Apple, the bitterness fades, but they're not the Apple
I knew. Anymore they're just another computer maker with a tiny corner
of the market.

Have fun! 'cause if it ain't fun, what's the point?
