Re: 0.25k program contest!
I don't know if any of you remember it, but I was instrumental in setting
up and running a programming contest a few years ago. I had some
unfinished FTA source code for Bouncin'Ferno and I was able to talk
inCider into sponsoring the contest and was able to get a whole lot of
companies to donate prizes.
That was my one and only experience with a contest, but if I learned
anything at all about contests...it was to keep the rules to a minimum and
make it as easy as possible for anyone to enter the contest.
I think it would be easiest for everyone involved if those voting on the
programs - the folks on c.s.a2 - simply cast one vote for their favorite
program.
With a potential panel of judges that could number hundreds, or maybe even
thousands, I think it would be a tactical nightmare for the contest
coordinator to tally up everyone's first choice, second choice, etc. After
all, this is supposed to be fun, isn't it?
Personally, I'm all for 2 contests...one for IIe/IIc and one for IIGS.
Should all of you decide that 2 contests are the way to go, Shareware
Solutions II is willing to offer prizes to the winner of each contest.
Just my 2 cents....
