Following the directions which unpack first, which specify that you need to
unpack NAMEFIX and patch your system software so that it allows numbers and
various other 'illegal' characters.

Not directly. You'd need to install uqwk on the system.

I have uqwk, v 1.8. If it's considered appropriate enough, I'll go ahead and
send it out on the binaries group so folks can grab it, and so it'll be
available at the archive sites. It's not an Apple program, but it's
necessary for using 2qwk!.
