The null-modem cable idea works like a charm. I recently had a need
to move a 1 Mb packed file from one GS hard drive to another and
I didn;t have a SCSI-SCSI cable to hook the drives together in the
same chain and the GS's aren't close enough to hook together. Sooo,
I took the modem cables off the GS's and joined them through a gender
changer and a null modem adapter. I then connected the source GS to a
PB-145 through the cable. Using ProTERM v3.1 on the GS and ZTerm on the
PB I transferred the file to the PB's hard drive, then reversed the
process on the destination GS. I know I could've AppleTalked the GS &
PB, but the null modem set up was quick, painless, and got the job
done.
Have fun!
