My Quick Faxination Review
Before I begin, I want to describe my IIgs setup. I have been using
Faxination on a ROM 3 IIgs connected to a SupraFAXModem v.32bis with
a few DAs and Inits loaded and AppleTalk enabled. I am also using a
12MHz/32k ZipGS.
The original software which I received from Vitesse was dreadful.
Faxination was unable to receive or send any faxes at all. Needless
to say, I was extremely upset that Vitesse would have the gall to ship
this software which was obviously an "alpha" release.
However, after downloading the 0.1.4 update from the Vitesse BBS,
the software quickly became much more stable and usable. This update
has allowed my IIgs to successfully send and receive faxes. One problem
which I have been experiencing is the inability to successfully print
faxes. This is rather disappointing and frustrating.
The options menu, send log & receive log, phone book, and cover sheet
menus contain many useful features and appear to be completely
functional and bug-free in this update. The low memory option is a
useful feature to have when there isn't enough memory to send a fax.
Faxination spools the fax and then waits until there is sufficient
memory available to send it.
If the next update fixes more bugs and adds as many features as the
latest update, then Faxination will be a nice basic fax program.
