Will IIgs Mon work on IIC ?

Will the Apple Color Monitor that comes standard with
a IIGS work on an Apple IIC ? 
Do I need a diferent cable or will the 
monitor cable from a IIGS work?

A friend of ours tried the mon on her IIC and she couldn't
get here computer to run when she had this monitor plugged in.
Is there a voltage conflict here?
 
The manual that came with the monitor implies that it will work with any 
Apple computer that supports RGB.
