It can be done, but by the time P8 hands control off to a user routine (either
ATINIT or the first '.SYSTEM' file) it has already setup the slot/drive table
which means that the user program would have to do the slot-scan itself :(

I wouldn't advise it as a lot of programs use the Slot 0 values to determine
whether there is a device in another slot/drive location.
