Panasonic CD-ROM w/ RamFAST?

I'm well on the road toward purchasing an "unmentionable" laptop computer,
and I've been considering a CD-ROM drive to go with it. I'd almost decided
on one of the parallel-port types, when I ran across an interesting ad in
Computer Shopper:

Panasonic Double-Speed CD-ROM, about the size of a Discman (tm) portable CD
player. SCSI interface, 128k buffer, multisession Photo-CD, and includes a
PCMCIA interface card.

I know the PCMCIA card won't work with my GS, but how about the drive? As
the subject line says, I have a RamFAST Rev. D, with 3.00j ROMs.
I'd think so, considering that it is a SCSI interface, but does anyone have any
knowledge/experience with this drive? I'd appreciate any input, via E-mail
(the .sig address, please, not the header address) or here on c.s.a2. Thanks!
