Can someone explain how to dnload the updates from Vitesse BBS?

I'm using ProTerm3.1.  I connected at 14400, LAPM, 57600 DCE.  Logged on,
registered, and configured.  Went to FAXinantion xfer section.  Tried
to configure as ZModem, but Z was down, so left it as Xmodem/CRC.
Tried to Send the .shk file.  It said 37+ minutes was needed for about
a 140 block file (~70K), and I didn't have enough time allotted this
session to do it.  I should be able to dnload 10 times that much in about 8
minutes!  What gives?  How can I set transfer highn enough to do the xfer
in a few minutes.  37 minutes!  No way!  I spent $49+ for FAXination.  I'm
not willing to spend another $5 a week for updates!  Please tell me how
to use the FV BBS efficiently.  Thanks.
