Lots of HD errors

I had some HD trouble the other day. I accidentially formatted my hard drive
instead of the one I was working with. Well I had a backup from a few months
back so I installed it. Since then I have had some serious problems. I only
have the Salvation Supreme utilities and I keep getting 'volume errors'. My
HD will just lockup, crash, or crash when trying to launch different
applications. I'll test the boot partititon (GSOS) and it'll come up error
free then it'll crash and I check it and it has an error. I just can't win.
Is there something I should be looking for? Is my HD going? I was using a ROM
1 and just switched to a ROM 3. I have been testing/working with a CMS 40 hd
along with my LaCie Tsunami 170 ext. I have a RAMFAST Rev D, ROM 3.01e and an
AppleCD 150. Most of the time the CMS and CD are off. There are times that the
crash will not let me use the LaCie and I end up turning one of the other SCSI
devices on then reboot and it will run. It is really weird. Nothing seems to
be routine. I was thinking the 2nd HD was causing my problems. The only thing
I have added was FAXination but I don't think that is whats wrong. Can I have
something set wrong that causes the HD(s) to lock the other up? Make errors on
the other? I have reformatted the LaCie twice and reinstalled the backup.
Which BTW was created using the Salvation Supreme Bakkup util? Any ideas?

I have 6 partitions: 1st GSOS, 2nd BBS (P8), 3rd Utils (P8), 4th empty, 5th &
6th are my PCT hd (32 megs with DOS 6.22). The troubles go back and forth from
the 1-3 partition. I can run part1 fine. Launch a program on part 3 and it
dies giving me the RESTART error. Sometimes it restarts and sometimes it
doesn't. I have had part 1 boot up, give me the finder screen then the
read/write light lock up red and I loose all control. I have to shut the power
off on the gs. Not even an OA-CTRL-RESET will let it loose.
