Pitch Wheel: Looking for MIDI tool info

        I am interested in writing a small CDA to use
my joystick as a pitch bender for my MIDI studio at home.  I
don't expect perfect results, just something which will
put off my needing to by a pitch bender for a while.  I
program in Merlin assembly language and I have almost
all the "Addison-Wesley" apple reference books except for
ToolBox Ref 3 and the newer stuff.
 
        I need more information on the GS MIDI tool to
pull this project off.  Any help would be great!  If know
of any developer note sites that hold _MIDI_notes_
that would be useful.  Even more useful would be
a summary of 1 (ONE) MIDI tool call with parameters
to get me started on the project.
 
        Also, please send a quick note if this type of
project is appealing to you in terms of a final
product.  I'm writing this mainly for myself, but
I'll make it public if enough people show interest.
I'm already thinking of expanding the project to
cover modulation and other MIDI parameters - tell
me what you think the program should do.
