An unlimited number of things, in fact!
Back closer to the beginning of the computer age, there was a palpable
feeling of optimism and excitement--that anything you could imagine in
sufficient detail, you could accomplish (within the constraints of the
platform, of course).
The doldrums we are currently experiencing are as much a failure
of imagination and enthusiasm as of execution.
And this applies even (especially?) to the modern PC/Mac world, where
a whole generation doesn't even know what a "killer app" is. ;-(
I've often characterized the Apple II as the last computer for which
all the documentation needed to fully exploit it weighed less than
the computer itself. It is dry tinder to a spark of inspiration.
