If you are referring to this manual, make sure you use the second
edition (the one that also covers the IIc+). There have been several
revisions to the SmartPort interface, and the original IIc manual has
many errors and missing details.

The "official" reference for writing a SmartPort interface consists of:

- Apple IIgs Firmware Reference
- Apple IIgs Firmware Reference Update for 1MB IIgs (some new SmartPort
calls are defined here and nowhere else)
- the SmartPort technical notes (TN.SMPT.xxx).

If you mean the "Liron" card (the UniDisk 3.5 Controller Card for the
II+/IIe), then no, it doesn't work in the IIgs.

There isn't much need for it, since the IIgs has a much better
SmartPort implementation built in. The newer Apple 3.5 Disk
Controller Card (alias "SuperDrive Card") works in the enhanced IIe
and IIgs.
