The meaning of the error is spelled out for you - error $40 is
generated by ProDOS when an application tries to do something with a
filename or pathname that doesn't agree with ProDOS's naming rules.

The most likely reason in this case is that you are trying to extract
a file from an archive, and the file's name is not legal (e.g. it
starts with a number, contains some character other than letters,
numbers or digits, or is more than 15 characters long).

I haven't used Angel, so I don't know if it provides you with a method
of specifying an alternative filename for the extracted file.  If it
doesn't, you are probably out of luck.
