The DIP switches on the card are for setting the ID number of the SCSI
device connected. If you want to boot from the hard drive, then set it
to 7 which is with all the switches down or 'closed'. This was how I
had it on my //e anyways.

There is something else you need to keep in mind, as far as I know, this
applies to all Apple Hi-Speed SCSI cards; they do not supply termination
power to the bus. So if you have a hard drive that also does not, then
you'll either have to build a box to perform this, or, as a faster fix,
and just as safe (at least I never had any problems), you can solder a
diode between two points directly on the card itself to do this. I
posted a message about this a while ago, with the instructions for the
box, but am still trying to get the GIF file that shows the latter
method. I may be able to get it today.

Hope this helps.

Rob.
