OK, I'll support what I said... I generally get prices out of
Computer Shopper, which tends to be PC-biased. Dirt Cheap Drives generally
has the best prices in the magazine. From their ad in the 11/94 issue:
IDE SCSI
Quantum 170 MB (ELS170) $189 $169
Quantum 270 MB (LPS270) $190 $190
Quantum 342 MB (LPS340) $209 $233
Quantum 541 MB (LPS540) $255 $269
Micropolis 1050 MB (MC4110) $619 $619
Connor 1060 SCSI / 1080 IDE (CFP1060/CFP1080A) $559 $585
The prices are probably down a bit overall by now (three months
later), but I think my comparison is reasonable. This doesn't include
fire-sale/clearance/etc prices, though; it's more "normal" pricing.
