No program on any computer can read AppleWorks GS spreadsheet files,
except AppleWorks GS itself. (Similarly for AWGS database, page
layout, graphics and communications files.)

The file formats are not documented (even internally by Claris) and
the source code (all in assembly) wasn't much help, according to what
I read regarding Quality Computers' attempts to release a new version.

The Word Processor file format is mostly documented (there is a file
type note on it), and there are programs that can read AWGS WP files
(e.g. the 'aroff' utility in GNO, the EgoEd NDA).

Maybe someone should reverse-engineer the other file formats?
