I personally haven't had very good luck with these drives as shipped in HP
computers. 2 1/2 years ago, we received 17 machines with a total of 24 of
the Quantum-made-for-HP drives. One was DOA and 6 have failed in service
since then, 4 under the one year warranty. Either I got a bad batch or there
is something goofy about the HP version of what Quantum sold as the
ProDrive 425S. BTW, these are NOT HP C2235S which are mechanisms
manufactured by HP, not relabeled. In the 17 machines above, there were 6 of
the HP drives and none have failed. HP replaced one of the Quantum's with an
HP drive under warranty, simply because they had one on hand in the local
office. HP's workstation division quit selling these drives over a year ago
in favor of 500MB drives, so the surplus outfits have probably been trying to
move them for that long. HP doesn't sell the enclosure described above and
neither does Quantum so caveat emptor on that part of the warranty.
