I'm truly amazed, and quite honored, to learn that Shareware
Solutions II has a World Wide Web Home Page! It came as quite a
surprise to your humble publisher.
Eric Bush, of Kitchen Sink Software, works at the University of Ohio
and one of his job responsibilities is to set up www home pages.
Completely unbeknownst to me, Eric went ahead and "translated" the
"Hot Links On The World Wide Web" article from Volume 2, Issue 2 into
html format.
In essence, what that means is that if you have Internet access, you
can access the SSII Home Page, and all those 'Hot Links' are already
set up for you. The URL is:
http://www.ericse.ohio-state.edu/SSII.html
As with so many www Home Pages, think of the SSII Home Page as being
under construction. I've e-mailed Eric all the mini-indexes and my
SSII Press Release, and those will also become available on SSII's
Home Page.
If you have a lynx bookmark file set up (highly recommended!), once
you arrive at the SSII Home Page, just press the letter "A" (without
the quotes) and the SSII Home Page will be added to your bookmark
file. Then, whenever you fire up lynx, you can press "V" to view your
bookmark file, and you'll be able to access the SSII Home Page by
arrow keys.
By using a bookmark file, you only need enter a URL once.
If you don't have a bookmark file, the next time you're using lynx,
press "O" (that's the letter, and not a zero) to bring up lynx's
Options Screen. You'll then have the opportunity to set up a bookmark
file. It doesn't matter what you name it.
If I remember correctly, after I named the bookmark file in Options,
I then fired up Pico and saved a blank text file with the name of my
bookmark file. After doing that, whenever I press A from within lynx,
the current link is added to the bookmark file. The bookmark file is
just a plain text file, with all the links already set up in html. It
can be edited by your favorite word processor, whether Unix based or
on your Apple II, and saved back to your home directory (using, of
course, the same file name as indicated in lynx's Option screen.)
If you use lynx and you don't yet have a bookmark file, you have a
homework assignment: set one up and Add the SSII Home Page to it.
Thanks, Eric!
