It doesn't work. I've tried that. There is a limit of how much you can
adjust the monitor before the screen flips out. I've had this problem
with my VOC for years.
 
I took my system to a local Apple Dealer a few years ago. They took it
in, booted up the system, shut it down, pulled the VOC, marked down the
serial number, then installed it in the wrong slot, charged me $80, and
told me that there is no way to adjust it and it would cost $625 for
board swap. Yeah, right.
 
Later when I got home, I powered up my GS and I got a message from the
VideoMix NDA that it couldn't find my VOC. I opened it up and saw that
the card was installed in slot 5. When I called up the tech, he insisted
that it was impossible that he installed it in the wrong slot. After
awhile he relented, and said it was my fault for having so many cards in
there in the first place. Nice guy eh? That's Apple for you.
 
Anyways, when I was at the Apple Expo West I talked to some people at
Alltech and they said it was probably the crystal. Since the crystal is
mounted directly on the board, I didn't bother replacing it.
 
Now that I know there is something I can adjust, I'll try it the next
time I open up my GS.
