Well, someone at Apple must have woken up.  There is a machine now
marketed in Japan called the "Pillow" or something equally inane.
It's like a stand-alone set-top-box, and is a Mac at heart, and
connects to a television.  I think it has a CDROM also.  Not sure
if/when it will get marketed in the US.  I think the US 
price is around $500.
