Try reading the comp.sys.apple2 FAQ at
ftp://rtfm.mit.edu/pub/usenet-by-group/comp.sys.apple2/.

Offhand, the best place would be ftp://grind.isca.uiowa.edu/, which has
mirrors of all of the other (significant) Apple // software FTP sites.
