EPSON FX/MX-80 Pinter help

I need some help with a printer.  I bought a Epson FX-80 Printer at a yard
sale.  The lady I bought it from said it works and the self test works great. 
However, I cannot get it to print on my GS or a //c.  After going through the
manual I am just as far as when I started.  I have a manual and a short
reference booklet.  One talks about the FX-80 and the other talks about the
MX-80  with the RS-232C/Current Loop Interface.  The printer says "FX-80" on
the data plate.  I am trying to get this printer working.  I am curious if this
will work as a serial printer.  It has a parallel connection and an RS-232.  I
am hoping someone has one of these (or similar) and can tell me the dip switch
setting to run it through the serial interface (I don't have a parallel card
yet).  Before I get to many 'read the manual' replies, I have.  The manual
makes a few refereces to Apple but thats about it.  It looks to be written in
the Apple //+ era?  I couldn't find anything that said to run on a _____ set
the switches to ______.   Your help would be greatly appreciated.
