Found FAST working TWGS Srams
Hi there. Not sure how much this will help anyone but thought I would
add the upgrade mania...At least for the TWGS owners out there.
On a fluke at work. I came across some discarded Compaq 386 Cache
ram upgrades.... Means nothing to the GS right?
Well, I have been running 12mhz on my TWGS now for about a year, and
suffer from random crashes under GNo and all sorts of things, even with
all the fixkern stuff and other bug fix inits installed.
Well, here is what happend.
TWGS 1.8S 32k cache installed
10mhz CPU
48mhz crystal-EPSON Half-TTL platic case Best I have found from Digikey
5 volt line running 5.12volts - Pc powersupply hacked in for tower use :)
SLOW GALS!!!!!
Old cache rams :Toshiba 9050ABA TC55328P-35 markings 35nanosecond
New cache Rams :Motorola MCM6206CP20 NIQUG9152 markings 20nanosecond
You need 3 of these!
The system is rock solid at 12 now and under most everything I have
tested. Still have to test Proterm3.1 but.... looks good so far.
Can't wait to get the 14mhz crystal to play with that.
