Re: Apple IIgs with IIe Powersupply?

Q: Will my GS work with a ][e power supply
Previous A: Yes, if the GS has a connector for the the ][e supply
My A:
Okay, let's assume for the moment that your GS is NOT an upgraded ][e, but
a genuine GS. Take a look at the board, and you'll notice a couple of
interesting items.

Near the rear-left corner of the board, there are some solder pads with no
connector attached. If you don't mind sacrificing the ][e supply, you can
cut the connector off the end, and solder each wire to the matching solder
pad on the board. In fact, if you suck out the solder on those pads, you
may discover that there is already a hole there. Just stick the stripped
end of the wire through the hole, and solder it tight.

The solder pads are supposed to hold a ][e-type power-supply connector,
but usually don't. The reason is that the GS motherboard was designed to
be used in one of two ways...either as a GS-in-a-GS, or as an upgrade for
a ][e. Likewise, there is a set of solder pads near the center of the
right side of the board, which match up nicely with the ][e keyboard
connector...
