Ultima I musings and questions

Overall, this is a cool game and I've really gotten into it the last
few days. Anyone who likes D&D types of games should check it out. As with
Bard's Tale, it's the automapping feature that got me _really_ interested
in the game. I like D&D type games, but dislike mapping.

It's still a bit unfair that monsters can be on the same literal
spot as you are in dungeons, so they can attack you and you can't even
see or attack them...

	Now for the questions....

	1) Most importantly, WHERE IS THE TIME MACHINE? I have gotten the
four gems, saved the princess, and she said that the gem was "to the northwest"
or somesuch. I have searched _all_ of the four big land masses and have found
no time machine.. Since the world "wraps around" there technically _IS_ no
northwest, but I walked around the whole world, especially the northwest, of
the land areas.
I also thought that this might refer to the upper-left area on the
map while in space, but there was nothing special there either

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated..

	2) One of the things told to me at the pubs is "ponds and lakes have
magical powers". I haven't been able to figure out what in the hell that
means...

	3) What are the -- amulet, wand, staff, triangle used for? I presume
those are only for one of the other types of beings, but they're something
you can ready as a weapon, but it says "attack with wand?" for example.

The first question is by far the most important.. I can't finish the
game without the time machine, yet I can't even FIND the time machine.
