Hmm, it sounds like either your 65816 chip can't handle 9mhz speed,
which is possible, since Zip probably tested the chip just to operate
at the speed it was sold at (try 8mhz), or you might have put the
crystal in backwards. I've done this myself, and it fries the crystal.
Make sure the dot or square corner on the crystal (pin 1) is in the
same orientation as the original crystal was installed. This is probably
the top left hand corner, but I'm not positive. If you look at the
socket, there is a notch at one end. Make sure that the dot or square
corner on the crystal is at the same end as the notch in the socket.
