I thought the ROM03 incorrectly reported size in the absence of a card
as well ?

Mine was built late 1987 and is definitely white, so I think this is
false. Thanks for the tip on the self test - my IIc tech ref only
covers up to the 3.5" ROM, and I have only the user-level doc for the
Apple slinky card. I admit I've never actually read it.
