Realistically, I doubt any such CD-ROM would ever be made by Apple,
and I doubt they would supply the source material for the manuals to
allow a third party to create one.  I also doubt they would allow a
third party to create them by scanning in the manuals.

More's the pity.  I also would very much like this.  My manuals will
wear out eventually (especially my Toolbox References, which are
already in pieces).  I'd even pay $100 for one (which is closer to the
price of the original manuals).
