There is (are?) invisible monsters. I believe one is the gelatinous
cube (?) that dissolves your armor.

As I remember, this is exactly as the original worked. Of the four
"signposts," some only work once and some work infinite times. If
you go past the max attribute value (99?) it rolls around back to zero.
