first, it pretty much needs to be a SCSI drive. There is an IDE controller, and it's pretty nice, but I prefer SCSI. It may be a tad more expensive (not much, though), but the SCSI bus is faster..
you have really two options for the SCSI. The Apple Hi Speed SCSI card
which can be found at virtually any Apple II mail order place. Don't pay
more than $109 for it new.
The other (better) option is the Sequential Systems RamFAST card. I'm not
up on the latest revision, but it's in the 3.01f range. It's faster,
supports an on-board cache, and has some nice utilities/drivers built
into the firmware. Low prices (new) seem to be about $150. High about $250.
Other than that, you'd need a SCSI cable -=- either a 25-50 SCSI or a 25-25
SCSI, depending on the connector on the back of your hard drive enclosure.
right - enclosure. Internal drives are few and far between. In fact,
the only internal drives I remember were IDE, and are not made any more.
ANY SCSI DRIVE will work with the GS - CD-ROM, SyQuest, Hard Drive...
