No, the driver is not fast because it uses the printer's built in fonts. It is because it uses the built in fonts and also UPLOADS the non-resident fonts to the printer, instead of doing it all on the GS. Thus the printer does all of the rendering. THAT is why the driver is so much faster -- your GS does a lot less work and the printer does most of it. Just the way most mac drivers work. -Auri
