Re: Buying equipment?

Hi,
Other than eBay and local thrift/secondhand stores, is there any major
place where people buy and sell Apple equipment? E.G. a website, mailing
list, etc. The reason I ask is, I'm in the market for a ROM 3 GS, all I
really need is the main unit. However, in my experience, a lot of the units
on eBay are totally untested, and are of the "Pulled from a working
environment, we know nothing about it, don't have any software, so can't
test, powers up and lights up" variety. Is there a place where Apples are
sold, where they're being sold by people who really do know about vintage
Apple equipment, and so systems are actually tested?
Thanks.
Even if it's "tested", unless the tester is quite knowledgeable, you
have little idea how well it will actually work.
The good news is that Apple II's are extremely reliable, so if they
power up, the odds are good that they work. It is usually more
cost-effective to take the chance and test them yourself.
