As others have said, the best you can expect under normal circumstances
is 9600 baud. If your IIgs is acclerated, although the port will not run
any faster, the software driving it will, so you may achieve a slight
improvement. Using a separate serial card I think can improve matters,
but that I have never tried. Others may be able to help on that score.
The fastest connection between your IIgs and a Mac is to use Ethernet,
not serial. You would need an Ethernet card in the IIgs, such as the
Uthernet card, and then install Marinetti, and use my Freeware SAFE2 FTP
program. With an accelerated IIgs, I have achieved very fast transfer
speeds to a Mac under FTP, almost to the limit of the 10base connection.
Ethernet transfers are of course error free. The advantage as wel, is
that it need not be a Mac, as any computer running FTP can be at the
other end. If your Ethernet LAN is connected to a router, you can also
work across the net.
