I hope no-one minds me jumping in on this thread.
Correction: Sequential Systems does NOT make a Turbo Serial Board.
(I called and asked)
However, I do make an add-on card for the Super Serial Card that will
allow Apple //,//e and //GS's to achieve speeds in excess of 19,200bps.
The Turbo ASB will allow speeds of: 38,400 - 57,600 - 115,200 - 230,400bps!
I have personally tested the Turbo ASB on my Apple //e at speeds of
115,200 without character loss. I've been able to transfer data at
speeds in excess of 8,000 characters per second! (8258cps to be exact)
Let it be noted however, that an Apple // running at 1MHz will not be
able to transfer data at speeds greater than 19,200bps. (My Apple //e is
running at 8MHz)
I expect to get better throughput when I upgrade my modem to a V.34
(v.fast).
Bottom Line: Sequential Systems doesn't make a high speed serial card,
and don't ever let anyone tell you that the Apple // is dead.
