GS cursor slowdown

I have a GS with 2.25M RAM, a 40M InnerDrive, and a Zip 
Chip. Recently I've notice that after working for a short
time (like in a paint program) the cursor moves very
slowly. If I go into the control panel and reset it to fast
it works again for awhile.
I bought the computre in '86 and have not replaced the
battery.
I suspect that the problem is battery-related. What do
others say?
Can I buy a replacement from Quality Computers?
