Two comments...
1. It's not really all that hard to replace the IWM. I've done it. It
does take patience. I picked up some Mac II IWMs that were left over from
SWIM upgrades. They are a slightly different part number (I can get it if
you want it) but are the same shape and work well.
2. The other way out (using a UDC card) is preferred.
I thought I new all about soldering; been doing it since 1956. But an
electronic organ technician gave a demonstration of how to solder surface
mount stuff using only a butane-powered soldering pencil - blew my mind!
