I'm pretty sure that there are a couple of problems. First, I have noticed
that the GS puts a header on PostScript files which seems to have
something to do with the AppleTalk network. I am not absolutely sure about
this, although I do know that if you download a file (created in the way
that you specify) to a PostScript printer using a Mac on an AppleTalk
network it will work.
The other problem is that the mac and GS both send a special header to the
printer, either as a separate file or as part of a document. This header
is a PostScript program to convert QuickDraw functions to equivalent
PostScript functions. Your problem might be related to the fact that the
GS isn't including this header.
