Even if one of the main programmers is not online for a week, there
are lots of others who can answer random techincal questions you may
have. Lots of us are satisfied owners and users of GNO, and we're
still around. I would hardly expect a phone call to be necessary when
a post to a newsgroup can get lots of qualified (and semi-qualified :)
people for far less.
This whole 'flamewar' seems to be merely bubbling up into usenet,
but the real action is taking place in email and IRC. Since I'm only
on usenet now, everyone's actions seem to be really far too strong for
what's been said here. Pfft. Take a chill pill, everyone involved, get
more sleep, and ease off the caffeine, and things will be back to
normal.
Whatever random grudges you may have about support, lack thereof,
life in general, and the like are shared by everyone and trying to
flame others for sins you are probably very guilty of smacks of "Pot.
Kettle. Charred."
Ian- you may complain about lack of work now by certain others.
But, at times, your own programs were suspended due to similar
reasons, namely your choice of staying on IRC and dumping your GS to
decrease the demands on your time. Everyone's guilty of neglecting
things they promised to do; gentle reminders may help, but it is not
always possible to fully understand the reasons why or force them
to do things.
I'd love a 30 hour day, or some other way to increase the amount of
time I have available to do things, but that isn't possible. We all
need to budget our time, and certain things just get bumped off from
time to time.
