Hmmm, well I'll first make the required "You get what you pay for" speech.
I've really enjoyed the lanuages and cours from the Byteworks and they're
worth a look. I also ran several ByteWorks lanuages using a RAM disk (using a
4 Mb RAM card and FlashBoot from Quality Computers) for several years before
we cobbed together a homebrew hard drive.

As for an alternative C compiler you might look at Hyper C. I believe
cco.caltech.edu has a complete library of Hyper C modules. If'n I recall
right Hyper C is an 8-bit system, so it doesn't meet your GS requirement.

For viewing GIFs look for GIF View. It's great for looking at VERY large
GIFs, but it doen't let you save them in a GS compatible format.
