I will vouch Dennis' post about the RGB monitor problem, and Don Beaty's 
(AFL Don) fix for it.

I had the same problem not once... but three times.  The first "fix" cost
me $200 at a dealer which lasted four months when the second one occured
(and thank God Apple paid for that one :).  When the monitor failed the
third time, I decided to go get the components and fix it myself.  Three
22microHenry coils (Don recommends you replace *all*three* of them) ran 
mea total of under 9 bucks.  Far better than buying a new monitor. :)

The three coils on the video board are not that hard to get at.  But I
would strongly recommend that the repair be left to someone who knows
their way around.
