I enhanced my first //e a little bit at a time. First I replaced the 
6502 with a 65C02, to use the new opcodes in my own programs (then the
65C02 got replaced with a 65802). Then I bought a non-working //e
from my old school and cannibalized its enhanced ROMS (at that point,
I tried to order a Switchback, but they weren't available, and I
didn't feel confident enough to build one). Finally, I also installed
the video ROM after I bought another unenhanced //e.
