The IIGS is more of a threat to Apple Inc than the Mac clone makers. The
most likely reason the GS would not be cloned is to avoid additional
competition with the Mac line (cloned or otherwise). That competition
has nothing to do with the relative power of either system but the cost.
A great many more people would opt for the admittedly lesser computing
power if the price was reasonable. And it would have to be very
cheap to cater to the market that cannot, or chooses not to, afford the
higher end machines.
