The problem isn't so much the availability of GS clones, but companies that
will write software for it. As software becomes increasingly complex and
unwieldy fewer and fewer companies are willing to commit the resources to
support multiple platforms. Some companies use cross-compilers to help reduce
the work-load of maintaining multiple platform software, but these often
produce less-than optimal opcode that takes considerable horsepower to make
them acceptable. Sooo, IMHO, it would take a heck of an effort, and some
players with a lot of clout, to breath life back into the GS's commercial
viability. Of course, I'd love to be wrong on this one :)
