That's funny.  I own a copy too, and it came on only 1 3.5" disk, and no
5.25" disks in the package at all.

The fact that the method is not obvious leads me to believe that you do
not have The Bard's Tale GS, but in fact the 8-bit version which will
run on a GS but not take advantage of any of the GS's features.  If so,
I believe conversion to 3.5" disks will take much effort.
