I recently revived one of my ][+s for a project. My program moves DOS to
the language card (David-DOS), loads several (6) binary files and a small
text file, and waits for input from a card. I would like to add some more
functions to the program. How can I tell how much memory I have left, as
I don't want the binaries to overwrite the Applesoft?
(For the morbidly curious, the program loads several speech drivers for
a Lis'ner 1000 card, a machine language X-10 routine for the Apple CAT modem,
and a text file into an array for X-10 code conversion lookup. The modem is
plugged into an extension of our home PBX. When you call it, it answers the
phone, says "Home Control", and waits for a 3 digit DTMF code to be entered. It
repeats the 3 digits, and parses them into X-10 house and unit codes and sends
those out over the power line. Then it says "Action" and waits for a single
digit for on or off, and sends that. I like to add some more functions to the
program, but I don't want to run out of memory.)
(I had dreams at one time of using the voice recognition in lieu of the
DTMF entry, but I really don't think there is enough memory for that. )
Thanks for any help.
