This seems a common bug(?) with Platinum Paint 2.0. If you
launch the program from System 6 _without_ a printer driver installed
and selected in the NDA control panel, you'll get an 'error $1301' once
loaded. As you've probably discovered, all menus options will be dimmed
expect for 'File'. Trying to select 'New' or 'Open' from the File-menu
will give you that same error $1301. Therefore, make sure a printer driver is
installed and selected from the 'Direct Connect' control panel, this should
solve the problem.

There seems to be a few more glitches in PP 2.0, such as the
automatic window-scroller not functioning unless you load in a picture.
Dispite that, I find it the best of all Apple IIgs paint-programs currently
available, although DreamGrafix comes in handy when you want > 16 colors.
Any chance of Seven Hills updating Platinum Paint to support multiple color
palettes? :-)
