Actually on GS RGB's, the fix is simply to resolder the flyback to the board,
which prevents damage to the flyback in the first place (you can imagine the
surges thru the poor thing when you rap on the side of the monitor, since it
handles the 23 kV [that's 23,000 volts for those in Rio Linda] for the CRT's
second anode.
