Have an Apple CD150 (original design) connected to a RF card, chained
to my hard drive. Just daisy-chained and turned the computer on and
everything worked. No muss, no fuss. I can play audio CDs when
I want, and grab babillions of bytes of stuff from "PC only" CDROMs.
I was a at a computer show not too long ago, and bought a CDROM full of
.MOD songs (about 250 megs), a CDROM full of .FLI animations
(about 600 megs) which I converted to Paintworks files, a CDROM full
of sounds (about 500 megs), and a CDROM full of .GIF files (about 400
megs). If you want cool stuff for your GS, a CD unit is the way to go!
